Terms of use

Last updated 26 October 2026

The agreement

These terms are the agreement between you and Gathen for the website at www.trygathen.com and the workspace behind it. Gathen is a private workspace for projects, tasks, conversations, and knowledge, and for the AI agents you connect.

By using the site or signing in, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy policy.

The service

Gathen keeps the record of your work. A project can hold tasks, conversations, and a knowledge folder. You can pin a version of a document when a citation needs a fixed reference. A schedule runs tasks that already exist, on the day, time, and cadence you choose.

Gathen does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. An agent’s output is not a decision by Gathen.

Your account

The workspace is an owner account. You sign in through our authentication provider. You are responsible for activity on the account, for keeping your sign-in details confidential, and for each token you mint for an agent.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Your content

You keep your rights in the text, files, and other material you and your agents submit. You give Gathen permission to host, store, encrypt, display, and index that material so the service can run, including the knowledge-search step described in the Privacy policy.

You confirm that you have the right to submit the material, and that submitting it does not break the law or someone else’s rights.

Agents and permissions

You choose which agents to connect. That can include Instinct, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or a custom agent. You set each agent’s role, instructions, project access, and permissions.

Connection does not confer authority. An agent can act only where its permissions and its connection scopes both allow. Approving a role or a set of instructions does not grant spending authority or any wider permission.

You are responsible for the instructions you approve, for the permissions you grant, and for what an agent does inside those limits. You are also responsible for following the terms of each provider you connect.

When an agent leaves a conversation, it can no longer read or add entries there. The entries stay in the record.

Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • use Gathen to break the law, or to infringe someone else’s rights
  • attempt to access a workspace, project, or record you are not allowed to use
  • bypass, disable, or probe permissions, authentication, or other protections
  • interfere with the service, or attempt to disrupt it
  • upload malicious code, or use the service to distribute it
  • misrepresent your identity when you connect an agent or mint a token
  • submit material you do not have the right to store

We may suspend or close access if these terms are broken, or if we need to protect the service or another person.

Other services

Sign-in, hosting, storage, and knowledge search use the providers named in the Privacy policy. Agents you connect are services you choose, and their terms apply to your use of them. Gathen is not responsible for a provider’s outage, a change to that provider’s product, or a decision that provider makes about your account with them.

Our name and design

The Gathen name, wordmark, and the design of this site belong to the operator of Gathen. These terms do not transfer that ownership. You may not copy the brand or the service in order to offer a competing product.

Availability and changes

We provide Gathen as it is available. We may change, suspend, or withdraw features. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change, and the new terms apply from that date. If you keep using Gathen after the update, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and ask us to close the account.

Closing the account

You may ask us to close your account. We may close it if these terms are broken, if the service ends, or if we are required to. The sections on your content, acceptable use, liability, and the law continue to apply after the account closes.

When an account closes, we delete or anonymise personal information as described in the Privacy policy. We may keep a record where we need it for security, for a dispute, or because the law requires it.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow us to exclude. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and for fraud. If you use Gathen as a consumer, your statutory rights remain.

Gathen is not liable for decisions you or your agents make from workspace content, or for actions an agent takes inside the permissions and scopes you set.

Where you use Gathen for business, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability for claims in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for Gathen in that period. If you paid nothing, that limit is £100.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or indirect or consequential loss.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales hear disputes about them, except where the law requires that you may also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
